Announcing the 2018 Permaculture Tours
The Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute (FLPCI) has set the date for the
2018 Annual Site Tours! Please mark your calendars and set your sundials
for *Friday, August 24 - Sunday August 26, 2018.*
With your feedback from last yearâs Tour, weâre endeavoring to make 2018âs
event the best one yet! In the spirit of the grassroots Central American
"farmer to farmer" movements (with which Rebecca Cutter, the Tourâs key
organizer has worked) *the focus of this year's event is learning through
action, and sharing concrete examples of regenerative practices. *As a
result, we are forgoing the Sunday Convergence format in order to offer *a
second day of tours and opportunities for hands-on activities*.
So far, we have 13 sites registered, and some are gearing up to provide a
workshop or work party or âpermablitzâ opportunity in addition to their
standard tour! We also plan to improve this yearâs Tour Site Map, and to
organize carpooling to all the sites.

The FLPCI board wants to share with you some things weâve been learning
about as an organization, as they impact our approach to this yearâs Tour:
We understand that some folks are moving away from the word âpermacultureâ
for various and valid reasons. However, the board of FLPCI, an organization
with some local traction and power, *feels called to challenge and change
the permaculture movement from within*, rather than distancing ourselves
from the word.
We arenât working alone, we acknowledge that we have a lot yet to learn,
and we welcome accompaniment on the shared journey towards building a truly
equitable bioregional culture.
As we endeavor to do this in the Finger Lakes, our approach is: if sites
demonstrate ecological design and/or regenerative social practices, but
donât call their work âpermacultureâ, itâs our honor to include them in the
tour and promote them.
We will be in touch with more information as we create a facebook event and
update our website. As always, please reach out to info@
